MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of the Royal River Community Players is to create multi-generational performing arts experiences for Yarmouth and surrounding area residents. These opportunities of education, culture, and creative expression are provided through theatrical productions for all ages and abilities.

VISION

At RRCP we are committed to unleashing the transformative power of the performing arts within our community. Our vision is to cultivate an inclusive space where individuals of all ages, experiences, and abilities can come together to participate, learn, and grow.

We believe in a community-first approach to theater, creating a warm, positive, and emotionally safe environment for everyone. Our productions invite novice performers to collaborate alongside some of Maine's best theater professional, fostering mutual learning and a deep sense of belonging. Grounded in an educational mindset, we prioritize the process as well as the final product, establishing a culture that nurtures creativity and joy.

Join us as we explore, celebrate, and experience the magic of the performing arts together!

HISTORY

Founded in the Fall of 2016 in Yarmouth, Maine, the Royal River Community Players (RRCP) emerged from the passion of a dedicated group of theater enthusiasts. Our mission has always been to provide diverse performance opportunities and produce plays and musicals that families can enjoy together, embracing participants of all ages.

In our early years, we operated in rented facilities, allowing us to test our creativity and engage with the community. A significant milestone came in 2018 with the launch of our inaugural "Stroll Haunted Yarmouth," which quickly became an annual tradition cherished by both RRCP and the residents of Yarmouth.

By 2019, we found a permanent home by transforming a former restaurant into our current Playhouse space. This new venue has allowed us to expand our programming by adding workshops and classes to our offerings.

In 2023, we took a significant step forward by hiring our first Executive Director, enhancing our programming and staffing. As a result, we now offer four main stage productions each season and year-round educational programs.

In 2025, we founded the Accessible Stages Collaborative, an interdisciplinary group of professionals dedicated to helping theater organizations in Maine foster inclusive theater practices. Our goal is to create productions where everyone, regardless of ability, can shine on stage!
