Accessible Stages Collaborative Cabaret Workshop

This fall, Royal River Community Players is partnering with Gorham Arts Alliance to create the Accessible Stages Cabaret Workshop. Not only will this performance be an opportunity for performers of all abilities to showcase musical numbers and scenes from their favorite shows. It's also a chance to increase the capacity for our local theaters to produce unified productions! Read more below.
Made possible in part by a grant from the Onion Foundation

Registration opens on Monday, July 20th at 7am
To register by phone please call David Sheehy at (978) 308-2531
Please Note
Registration does not guarantee participation. Participation will be available on a first-come first-serve basis and will depend on the capacity of each rehearsal space and performers' conflicts. Preference will be given to performers who only have one or fewer conflicts with rehearsal times due to the quick nature of this run. You will receive an email from dsheehy@royalrivercommunityplayers.com to confirm your participation and location, so save this email to your contacts. Please give us up to two weeks to confirm registration due to the complexity of this registration process. Please reach out to dsheehy@royalrivercommunityplayers.com with questions.
What is the Cabaret Workshop?
The Accessible Stages Cabaret Workshop is a collaborative theater experience where performers with and without disabilities come together to create and share musical numbers and short scenes.
Throughout the workshop, you’ll work as part of a small group led by a director and music director (David Sheehy), choreographer (Michaela Knox), and a team of apprentices (emerging theater leaders) who will guide rehearsals and help shape the performance. Together, you’ll explore ideas, build material, and prepare for a final cabaret-style showcase for an audience.
This is a supportive, creative space focused on collaboration, expression, and inclusive theater-making. It is open to performers ages 10 and up.

The Performance
The Cabaret Workshop will consist of musical theater songs, dances, and scenes based on the recommendations of our performers.
We are also thrilled to include select music and scenes from the work of local playright
Brian Daly.
Each cohort will prepare a select number of performances, and the entire group will join forces for our opening and closing numbers.
