Overview:
We are looking to cast two actors (14+) to work as stagehands in our production of The 39 Steps. These volunteers will be responsible for helping with props and set pieces backstage, as well as playing an integral part in the various visual gags within the show. Because they are in the show, we are looking for people with some acting experience. Stagehands must be willing to attend all tech rehearsals and productions.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in rehearsals and performances.
Help with setting up or taking down scenic elements throughout the performance.
Pantomime certain set pieces during transitions and specific scenes.
Appear onstage as assistants to facilitate prop, hat, and costume changes. Must feel at ease being in front of an audience.
About the Show:
Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! This two-time Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of four), an onstage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers, and some good old-fashioned romance!
Schedule:
Rehearsals: October 8-12 (Su, Tu, Th)
Tech Week: November 12-16
Show Run: November 17-19
